Is Trauma Healing for You?
“Trauma is a wound, and wounds can be healed.”
Wounds of the mind may start in the heart. Hurt, pain, agony, and anguish are all different ways to describe trauma. The actual definition of trauma is,
“A single or series of deeply disturbing events.”
Some will ask, ‘What is deeply disturbing?’ My answer is the ever-popular, “Well, it depends.”
What is deeply disturbing to one person may not be to someone else. Most people do not go through life unscathed because life leaves bumps, bruises, and skid marks. With trauma, however, they may all be on the inside, invisible to the outside world. So, how do we cope with trauma?

Trauma Healing Helps
Many people use various trauma coping mechanisms: Excessive behaviors such as spending money you do not have on things you do not need. Maintaining extreme physical fitness regimens. Turning to substance abuse and isolation to deal with the depression and/or anxiety. While trauma is the wound, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) may be a diagnosis from a trained medical professional, but both require trauma healing.
Trauma healing is a series of measures used to reclaim your life from past hurt and pain caused by deeply disturbing events that you may or may not have had control over. There are several maxims we abide by in REBOOT Recovery. The first two are: 1) If you believe you have experienced trauma, you’re probably right, and 2) If you do not believe you have experienced trauma, you’re probably fooling yourself. The third adage is,
“It’s not a competition. Your trauma is your trauma and no one else’s.”
Is Trauma Healing for You?
I will answer my own question with, ‘Trauma healing is for everyone who wants it.’
REBOOT Recovery of the Quad Cities is a 501 (c) (3) dedicated to helping people overcome trauma, together, one person at a time. Although we do this in a group setting for 12-weeks, each person remains an individual on their personal trauma journey. Trained facilitators with nearly a combined 60 years of military experience and 20 years of leading trauma courses help guide participants through a structured, faith-based, FREE course.
