Fifth QC Black Authors’ Forum

Sometimes success can be measured by repetition. The upcoming Fifth QC Black Authors’ Forum highlights just how far we’ve come. I would not have thought five years ago that the Quad Cities Black Authors’ Forum would end up creating a Black Authors’ Collective. Through the forum and collective, I know of 15 to 20 writers who took the leap and became published authors. But what does all this mean?

It’s All Part of the Plan

The Black Authors’ Forum and Collective has always had certain objectives, and the Fifth QC Black Authors’ Forum is a testament to our consistent mission:

1. Showcase who the Black authors are in the Quad Cities Area.
2. Inform future authors about the writing process.
3. Create coaching, mentoring, and bonding opportunities.
4. Use writing as a unifying factor within the community.
5. Empower writers to become authors.
6. Provide opportunities for authors to display and sell their work.

I believe we set realistic, enduring expectations for our group that will carry us into the future. In fact, continuing with the Fifth Annual QC Black Authors’ Forum is a step toward sustaining our legacy.

What’s Next for the Black Authors’ Forum?

We will likely continue to interact with the community, promoting authorship, mentorship, and following one’s dreams. We have never confined ourselves to the forum; we have participated in many other writing events within the community, encouraged each other’s writing visions, and attended author events. If you have time on Friday evening, August 21, 2026, stop by the MLK Center in Rock Island, IL, to learn who the authors are, what types of books they write, and to be inspired. The Fifth QC Black Authors’ Forum will be a highlight of the year for local writers and readers alike.
