Authors Need Vivid Imaginations

“Being a successful author requires a vivid imagination.“

Authors are like entertainers —and many other people who may not know it: they are very creative with vivid imaginations. The award-winning The Iraq I Knew… was the only planned book opportunity below, and it was not a sure thing. Entering a book contest with thousands of other people and winning something is not a guarantee. The video above is a testament to placing above the pack by letting my imagination run wild.

Opportunities Help Imagination

Even with an explosive imagination, there is not always the means to see our brainchildren come to fruition. A strong vision after opportunity met imagination is how the sold-out books on the left, the Spanish version of Can God Trust You with Trouble? in the middle, and both audiobooks came about. The Brewed Book on Harrison St. in Davenport, IA, sold out of my books. My previous books there took two years to sell, whereas these only took a couple of months.

The Spanish version was an opportunity provided by a client who adored the English version, and the two audiobooks are part of a beta test with Virtual Voice Books. I could have easily left those opportunities on the table and moved on to something else, but book sales require whatever competitive advantage you can get.
