Why Giving Blood is Vital

“Giving blood saves lives. Maybe even yours.” Have you ever considered why giving blood is Vital? I decided to feature this topic because it is near and dear to my heart. Also, in support of one of the nonprofit Boards of Directors I serve on, ImpactLife Blood Center. The message of the current Give Blood television commercial is that the blood supply becomes vulnerable during the summer months. This occurs because our society follows a school year cycle – summer breaks with schools closed, and family vacations reduce donations and blood drives. However, neither of these factors reduces the need for blood. Ultimately, this highlights why blood giving is truly vital for our communities.

Why Giving Blood is Vital

What are some of your vulnerabilities? A vulnerability for all of us is a blood shortage. This stems from hospitals not having enough blood on hand when needed. With natural disasters occurring this summer, such as tornadoes and flash floods, we never know when people may be hurt and require blood or blood products. When asking why donating is vital, it’s because giving blood truly can make the difference in an emergency. If you or your organization can help, please donate blood.
